ARCP review

The ARCP process was reviewed for 2011 and further minor refinements have been made in 2012.

PRIOR to meeting with their Educational Supervisor for the end of post review, trainees must complete the ARCP checklist, which is on METIS. The checklist lists items which must be present in the portfolio, and without which an outcome 1 is not possible

Please make sure that you use the correct Educational Supervisor forms ((indentified with 2.1 2012 in the name):

Please use the correct version with your trainee. You are encouraged to set aside at least two supervision sessions to complete this, Educational Supervisors may wish to complete some of the form with the site tutor present as well, depending on local arrangements. Educational Supervisors should highlight any information missing from the ARCP checklist (item 2 above), and document this in the report.

The ES report is not yet available as a web form. The report should therefore be completed as a word document, uploaded to METIS, and validated in the normal way

Trainees then meet with their Training Programme Director, who will complete the Training Programme Director report (to be completed online on METIS, but viewable as a pdf here). The TPD will verify that any items identified as missing by the ES have been filed. THe TPD will also review the trainee's overall progress, and make an outcome recommendation to the ARCP panel. Trainees who have not met educational requirements, or who have missing evidence at this stage, will not be recommended for an outcome 1

5) The ARCP panel will audit 10% of Outcome 1 recommendations, and review the portfolios of all trainees in whom an outcome 1 was not recommended (Panel A). Panel B, at which trainees are seen face to face, will be held the same day as Panel A

6) All ARCP outcomes will be available in METIS on the same day as Panel B
