Out of Programme to do Research (OOPR)

In order for Out of Programme time to count towards your CCT, the following information is required, and should be submitted to the Quality Assurance Committee at the RCPsych:

  • Details of the research protocol.
  • Details of how the competencies, both academic and clinical will be achieved during the research period and how these competencies will be assessed, ie, what workplace based assessments will be used. 
  • Ideally where the research is clinically based or where there are clinical sessions, the programme director or research supervisor, should be able to ascertain what competencies the trainee can achieve whilst in this research programme by mapping the research protocol to the competencies for a particular year of training. 
  • Brief details of training undertaken to date.
  • Details, preferably a CV of the research supervisor and confirmation that the clinical supervisors are PMETB approved and/or have received training in assessments.
  • Confirmation that the deanery is happy to support, the out of programme (or if they are waiting for College support that they are happy to support provided the College support the OOP).

 

Special Interest and Research forms

You will need to complete either the Research form, or the Special Interest form (or maybe both!) as evidence for your ARCP. The forms should be uploaded to METIS once completed. In due course, you will be able to fill in these foms directly on METIS
